In November 2023, a novel detection method was introduced by the research team at YHLO, under the leadership of Dr. Wang Yuning. The method utilizes a combination of recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) and CRISPR-Cas12a to identify three respiratory pathogens that induce flu-like symptoms, including SARS-CoV-2, influenza A, and influenza B. The research achievement, titled "Development of a rapid, sensitive detection method for SARS-CoV-2 and influenza virus based on recombinase polymerase amplification combined with CRISPR-Cas12a assay," has been published in Journal of Medical Virology with an impact factor of 12.7.
